StALIS™

Prudent management of public properties calls for a database development approach based on the need for spatial accuracy and the related development costs, coupled with the ability to upgrade the database as the need for spatial accuracy increases and also as new data become available.  For the accurate mapping of land ownership and to enable the integration of land ownership information into modern land information systems, it is important to be able to relate the survey plan (legal locations) to the mathematical framework of the coordinate systems of the area. Modern computerized tools have, therefore, been developed to assist in the management and analysis of land information. Powerful computer programs, such as State Land information System (StaLIS), have the ability to integrate and analyze a wide variety of information, based on the physical location of different features and characteristics. An accurate coordinate location (Latitude and Longitude) for each property boundary is needed to fully integrate land ownership information into computer programs such as GIS.  The approach has proved very useful in most of the advanced countries, when at one stage or the other in their development; they were confronted with the same situation that most states in the federation are being faced today.

State Automated Land Information System, StALIS is developed by Wizards Solutions to solve the needs of Land Registry. With StALIS, the public can now conduct searches online at the Land Registry in forty-five minutes as against the old system of where searches could take three days. Documents can now be processed online, scanned, filed on a daily basis into the online database to enable easier access for users of the registry. The scanned titles cannot be defaced, altered or otherwise tampered with.
