NICReS - National Intelligence Criminal Record System

Information technology has brought dramatic improvement into the way we live and do business. Law enforcement agencies world wide have made considerable effort to incorporate Information and Communication Technology (ICT) into the work of law enforcement to promote productivity and enhance security of lives and properties. NICReS is an application that fits into this category.

NICReS is an acronym for the National Intelligence & Criminal Record System, a suite of application that incorporate traditional relational database technology (Knowledge Based System - KBS) with biometrics capabilities. It is intelligent enough to match identity using fingerprint minutiae.

NICReS is an integrated Records System suite for law Enforcement Agencies suchas The Police Force, Immigration Service, Judiciary and other related agencies. It is adaptable to any system for criminal records tracking at corporate or national levels.

NICReS is a computerized Law Enforcement/Criminal Justice Communication and Information Storage and Retrival System. It is established as a service to all criminal justice agencies – at the local, state, and federal levels. NICReS aims to help the criminal justice community perform its duties by providing and maintaining a computerized filling system of accurate and timely documented criminal justice information.

NICReS ensures that a functional reliable and secured database exist on all crimes and criminal activities in the country to the end that this would constitute a strategic deferent to Nigerians and tactically prevent would be criminals from embracing a life of crime.

NICReS, developed and maintained by Wizards Solutions Limited is presently deployed for the Nigerian Police (details held back due to security consideration but in the instance of formal enquires, Wizards Solutions Limited will facilitate visitation to the Nigeria Police Command for sighting the NICReS post). NICReS was officially commissioned by the Inspector General of Police on December 6, 2008.
